Some of the best selling images from the London Prints Collection
THE LONDON PRINTS COLLECTION
Hello my name is Bronagh Kennedy and I am a London based artist and designer specialising in contemporary London prints .
I have been creating the collection since 2012 when I launched the first 'Celebrating Cities' collection during the London Design Festival. I have a great collection of your favourite architectural landmarks, to appeal to the traditionalist or modernist alike, from the internationally recognisable icons of St Paul's Cathedral, The Tower of London, Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament to every Londoners favourite building, and my best selling prints, of Battersea Power Station, The Oxo Tower and the London Eye. I have recently added some brutalise icons to the London Prints collection of some buildings that people seem to either love or hate in equal measure, such as The Barbican, The Trellick Tower and the National Theatre.
HOW IT ALL BEGAN
Prior to creating art prints and specifically the London Prints collection I studied and worked as an Urban Designer for almost 20 years in a number of design consultancies in the UK and abroad. During this time I had the opportunity to travel extensively and developed a love for architecture, cities and photography. It was only on leaving the corporate world, and the gift of my first 'proper' DSLR camera in the summer of 2012 that I was able to develop and explore my love of photography. After a summer of being a tourist in my adopted home city of London and taking a lot of photographs the next step was what to do with them.
Whilst I initially set out to create the 'perfect' photograph I quickly realised that I didn't have the patience of a professional photographer, nor did I want to be carrying around huge bags and a hundred lenses, that I started to explore the artist opportunities offered by digital techniques. With the photograph as my starting point, and with the desire to create memorable London Prints that were just a little bit different from traditional photography, I began explore the incredible amount of pattern, texture, shape, contrast and detail held within the digital image. After a lot of long nights at the computer experimenting and printing I developed my personal approach to the medium and enjoyed the way the format of highly detailed black and white image against a bold colour block invites the viewer to look a little deeper and interact with at the subject in a different way and this is how the first London prints collection was born.
So it was in September 2012 that I tentatively launched the first London Prints collection to the public during the London Design Festival when I initiated a collaborative exhibition entitle 'Inspired by London' with a group of wonderful mixed media artists all equally inspired by the delights of London. It was a great success with lots of good feedback and a feature in Londonist.com that gave me the confidence to then launch my on line gallery and the rest is history as they say.
Since that first small London prints collection I have added lots of new buildings as well as new Cities and I am adding to the collections all the time. In addition to our London Prints Collection I have images of Newcastle, Brighton, Belfast, New York, San Francisco, Barcelona, Venice and Rome. So please explore the full collection at Bronagh Kennedy which I hope you enjoy and please feel free to get in touch with any queries or questions.
