Bespoke Design Service
Having a bespoke piece of jewellery made is a great way to mark your special occasion and its not as costly or time consuming as you may think! Prices vary depending on the level of involvement you wish to have in the design process, the complexity of the design and the cost of materials chosen.
The process normally takes 4-8 weeks and runs something like this:
- Contact me by email or phone with your commission;
- We can then discuss initial ideas over the phone and I will then be able to provide you with an written quote in a few days;
- Arrange a first consultation to discuss and sketch out ideas, this would normally take place in my workshop based in Clerkenwell, central London;
- Once we have agreed a design approach a 25% deposit is required to cover detailed design work. I will then prepare final designs using computer aided technology to create fully realistic 3D visualisations of the final piece and this process takes about 2 weeks. If you prefer scale models in non precious materials can also be made;
- Once the final design has been agreed a payment of 50% is required to cover costs and materials.
- The final piece will take 2-4 weeks to make; the remaining 25% is paid on delivery.
The bespoke service is a collaborative process and you may or may not already have some design ideas at this stage but here are some things you may like to think about:
DESIGN INSPIRATION - If you have any design ideas gather some images or items to bring along to the first consultation, things that inspire you, catch your eye or have some special meaning - although for obvious reasons do not do replicas of existing pieces or other designer work.
MATERIALS - Which metal you would like your design made up in prices can vary enormously between silver, gold and platinum and you may be more swayed by the colour of a piece rather than its inherent preciousness.
STONES - If you would like a stone set piece, think about the colour or type of stone you would like again prices can vary enormously between colours, types and cut of the of stones.
PERSONALISATION Many pieces can be personalised with an inscription, with date, names or messages incorporated in the design.
